Carson Branstine is currently off the tour rehabbing from an injury suffered in Australia and the Canadian who is currently World No.291 took to social media to describe how she feels in regards to issues that only relate to the tennis world.
She pulled no punches in the video including being very much scathing about the anti-doping system which she sees as being unequal directly referencing the Iga Swiatek vs Tara Moore cases it seems where Swiatek got a minimal ban for her violation.
While Moore continued to fight for years amid her ban for a substance found in contaminated meat. According to Branstine, the most high profile players benefit from a form of leniency while those lower ranked faced more higher sanctions. But not only that in her view, there are multiple aspects are inherently unfair.
“Merry Christmas! Your flight’s today, that’s your Christmas present.
But, like, you still have to pay for it. Also, sorry about your injury, you’re not going to make a single dollar for eight months," she said in her TikTok video.
"You must be crazy for thinking we would cover your medical bills at the tournament we hosted you at. Yeah, we have insurance, but it’s, like, the most expensive insurance ever, of course.
"Oh, you can’t afford a coach? That really sucks. I can’t help you. You made the finals of a huge tournament? Well, guess what, the tournament you’re playing next week, you’re actually going to play first match. Yeah.
"Oh, you can’t get a day off? Are you nuts? I mean, yeah, she failed her drug test, but, like, she’s number one in the world, we need her to play. But that other girl who’s ranked 300 and had contaminated meat? We’re just going to ban her for four years. We don’t need her.
"Oh, you have a really good reason why you can’t play this week? Well, you’d better still show up, otherwise we’re not going to believe you, and you’re going to get fined. We’re just going to take thousands of dollars from you. Obviously there’s an off-season, you play from December to November. Wait.”
Crying over the fact you're not good enough is ridiculous - Stubbs
Albeit Rennae Stubbs took umbrage with this calling out Branstine for these takes. "You’re also guaranteed a travel day if you’re on tour, i.e. travelling from one WTA event to another. If you make a final, the likelihood is you’ll have to play on Tuesday or Wednesday to fit your matches in, but you’re always given one travel day. This complaining about not being good enough is ridiculous," she said on
X."Also, the comments about 1 player got this & 1 player got that, everyone & every player have the same rules. Some obviously have money to pay for better representation. But the RULES are the same. If anything, the WTA and ATP need to figure out a way to help players with that. Also, the WTA Insurance is amazing! So this again nonsense..."
Branstine replied offering to go onto her podcast to offer her point of view and said that those shoving negativity her way should join the fight to improve the sport instead.
"Hey @rennaestubbs I’ve honestly never heard of your podcast, but I think I would make a great guest. My only request is that it’s live and that you don’t edit anything out after it’s out."
