Coco Gauff could be in for a potential fine after nearly hitting a fan with her racquet out of frustration following defeat in the US Open women's doubles final.
Gauff and McNally, also known as 'McCoco', lost out to Sam Stosur and Zhang Shuai 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 and in the heat of battle, the 17-year-old slammed her racquet on the floor before throwing it towards the advertising boards.
But according to those in the stadium, it bounced up and nearly hit a child. She did apologise afterwards and gifted him one of her racquets.

The whole idea of giving out wildcards is to give new & up-coming players a chance at getting as much circuit match-practice under their belts as possible. And this is a HUGE must and opportunity for these new kids on the block. Why curtail opportunities for these newbies in favour of stalwart monopoly?? That just isn't fair. At least give these lesser known players a chance to become more familiar at playing in bigger tournaments & give them also a chance of getting the crowds behind these underdogs.
