Williams gave Svitolina chances in the early going with the number five seed not taking them and it was Serena who broke at the first attempt and from there she started to build unstoppable momentum.
This was shown with her hitting 33 winners in a dominant display; in only an hour and 10 minutes of play.
The Ukrainian who was brilliant all tournament capped off with an excellent display against Johanna Konta; will be gutted that she couldn't withstand the early pressure and build from there.
Speaking afterwards, the 2018 WTA Tour Finals winner said that she wishes she would have taken those opportunities given early on; as it would have enabled her to play more freely.
"I just wish I could have taken those opportunities," said Svitolina.
"It could be maybe a 2-2 or 3-3 instead of 0-3, which allows you to push to play more freely."
Next up for Williams is Bianca Andreescu who the American knows well from their Rogers Cup final tie which saw the former retire due to a back injury.
With this not seemingly in sight this time, we will finally get to see the best out of both players in Saturday's final.
Andreescu saw off Belinda Bencic in her tie to reach her first Grand Slam final, Serena had already won her first Grand Slam before the 19-year old was born in 2000 but will get a player bang in form having not lost in 22 straight matches despite a shoulder injury early on.
