WTA Race to Finals: Cirstea, Zhang, Yastremska and Fernandez earn huge jumps

A couple of players put forward strong performances this week and that earned them huge jumps on the WTA Race rankings with Cirstea, Zhang, Yastremska and Fernandez chief among them.

Sorana Cirstea played a superb event once again in Lyon however her run was cut short by Dayana Yastremska in the semifinal. Nonetheless, the good result earned Cirstea an 8-place jump on the rankings placing her currently at number 16. The winner of the Lyon event is Shuai Zhang and the CHines player earned herself a massive jump on the rankings.

She moved 34 spots to number 21. Dayana Yastremska is another player who had a breakout run in Lyon jumping a total of 29 spots overall to number 30. The Ukrainian player lost in the final to Zhang. Leylah Fernandez won the other tennis event played last week in Monterrey and her mp was the biggest this week with 72 spots overall to number 29.

THe other Monterrey finalist, Osorio Serrano jumped 50 spots to number 40. Check out the top 50 below. The top 10 remained largely unchanged with Barty ahead of Swiatek and Kontaveit.
