The WTA Ranking has been updated after the 2024 Rome Open with Iga Swiatek, Danielle Collins and Naomi Osaka all winning big. Aryna Sabalenka too staved off Coco Gauff again for yet another fortnight.

Swiatek won the Rome Open title defeating Aryna Sabalenka in the final and goes from just under 11,000 points to nearing 12,000 almost. She sits on 11,695 points as of this week. Even if she loses early at Roland Garros, she won't be unseated as is her dominance at the top of the game. All others are almost playing second fiddle.

Aryna Sabalenka in reaching the final allowed herself to extend her lead over Gauff who was seen as World No.2 elect. But the big test will be defending semi-final points for the Belarusian at the French Open otherwise she will likely be usurped. Elena Rybakina though has fallen behind in that race. She lost 1,000 points and is now 2,000 almost behind Coco Gauff.

Jessica Pegula and Marketa Vondrousova though aren't in any form and the former isn't playing so she has a safety net of sorts for now. Further down in the top 10, Maria Sakkari jumped Qinwen Zheng into 7th. After falling out of the top 10, it is very much continued revival for the Greek.

But it is perhaps Danielle Collins who is the big winner of the week. She jumped up to 12th in the Ranking after losing in the semi-final of the Rome Open. Not a career high, but she is on the cusp of the top 10 again in her final year. Jasmine Paolini, Beatriz Haddad Maia and Karolina Muchova (the latter set to drop like a stone with Roland Garros points coming off) were the ones to make way.

DANIMAL RISING: Danielle Collins continues to head back towards her top 10 in her final year.

Elina Svitolina also continues to make strides and with Muchova losing semi-final points, she could rise higher even if she doesn't defend her haul. She is up to 17th.

Other risers include Victoria Azarenka (up three to 21st), Anna Kalinskaya, Barbora Krejcikova, K`atie Boulter, Linda Noskova and Sorana Cirstea who sit between 25th to 29th all rose with the latter going up three spots.

Osaka and Kerber rise again

Diana Shnaider after winning Trophee´ Clarins is up 15 spots into the top 50 in 47th spot. Emma Navarro ironically despite reaching the final went down a spot. Yue Yuan, Yulia Putintseva, Mirra Andreeva, Xinyu Wang and Anastasia Potapova inside the top 50 all rose too. Anna Karolina Shmiedlova on winning Parma is up to 53rd up 14 spots.

But a lot of the players going up a few spots like those just inside the top 50 was brought on by Anhelina Kalinina dropping 26 spots in one week due to not defending Rome final points, Diane Parry too fell 11 spots to 61st. So very much benefitting.

Naomi Osaka too went up nearly 40 spots in the course of one tournament as she reached the Last 16 in Rome. She sits just outside the world's top 30. Angelique Kerber too is just inside the world's top 210 after shooting up 120 spots to 211th by reaching the fourth round. So two players that won't be sitting in those spots for long.
