Nadal gets full on introduction on arrival to French Open
Who knew practice session were such a big deal? Well for Rafael Nadal at the very least, he has courted many visitors to his during his 2024 swansong and has started his French Open farewell. He started his Court Philippe Chatrier.
Nadal got his full on introduction during his arrival on Court Philippe Chatrier ahead of playing practice and entering his practice set. A 14-time champion on the surface, he will find out his fate when it comes to the draw on Thursday.
French Open crowd show incredible support for Pouille
Former World No.10 Lucas Pouille won't qualify for Roland Garros again as he lost out to Novak Djokovic's prodigy Hamad Medjedovic. The Frenchman lost out 6-3, 7-5 to Medjedovic.
He will next face Filip Krajinovic. Pouille was warming up against Medjedovic and the fans were cheering for the Frenchman and booing the Serbian when he was serving to start the match. But the Serbian had the last laugh. It was very much though an exhibition of the crowd in full voice. A really good pre-cursor ahead of Roland Garros.
Murray walks off court bemused after rain delays
Andy Murray had his match suspended against Yannick Hanfmann in a 7-5, 4-1 deficit and was a set and a double break down. Novak Djokovic awaits the winner in the second round and it is unlikely to be the former World No.1.
Umpire Greg Allensworth sent them back to the changing rooms amid an impending storm. Gusts of wind sent snow like particles onto the court with white pollen sighted. Murray complained saying 'it's like it's snowing out here." He looked bemused as he went off the court after rain delays. It seems likely that he will be defeated.
He will then move onto Roland Garros for his first clay court major in a number of years.
Thiem reaction after winning first round qualifying match
Dominic Thiem came from a set down to win his first round qualifying match at Roland Garros. The reaction was utterly superb as he reached the second round as they released the video of him smashing the ball to seal the win.
The crowd was superb as they rose to their feet as he got his farewell at least on Court Suzanne-Lenglen. He will return for a second round. But a packed court showed that he is very much still a popular figure.
He didn't receive a wildcard for the tournament despite being a two-time finalist in the event. This shocked a lot of people but he will look to prove people wrong.
Gauff set to unveil Roland Garros fit
Coco Gauff will aim to seal the Roland Garros title starting next week in Paris and she will unveil her kit tomorrow for the tournament. The current US Open champion said funnily after being asked on TikTok that she has designed kits for a long time in advance so she doesn't know.
She says she think it's grey and will be revealed tomorrow but that she isn't fully sure what it is. So it could be completely different when it is confirmed.
Rublev becomes a fan boy
Andrey Rublev is known friends with Alexander Zverev and he was a fanboy when it came to him winning the Rome Open. He signed the shirt of Rublev in the corner.
Rublev though received criticism on Reddit for this move due to the impending court case surrounding Alexander Zverev which is due to take form at Roland Garros in the next week.
