The
WTA Rankings have been updated ahead of
Wimbledon, which starts shortly, with rises for this week's champions,
Karolina Muchova and Madison Keys. However, given that the Wimbledon draw is done, it won't really help them until post-SW19.
Muchova bursts back into the top 10 after her title win in Bad Homburg. Due to previous injury travails, Muchova often doesn't defend a lot of points until the US Open and while she is not slated to move up on the live rankings from her position of ninth, others could fall.
Amanda Anisimova for instance is very much there in the slot for Muchova and a good run at SW19 knowing this year unlike last she is injury free means that she could feasibly be at least eighth come the end of the fortnight with Anisimova slated to drop to World No.8 with the final points coming off.
In addition, Mirra Andreeva is slated to reach a new career high of World Number Four, with Iga Swiatek also slated to drop three spots. Other movers and shakers include Victoria Mboko, who is at Wimbledon, having attended the Coach party, but was in a brace and likely will be out for the rest of the year. She falls one spot to 10th.
Keys surges after title success
Belinda Bencic goes up one, while Linda Noskova, despite title success recently in Berlin, goes down two spots to World No.12.
Naomi Osaka was also a big winner this week; she is up one spot, having reached the final in Bad Homburg, losing to Muchova, and is further into the top 15 at the 14th spot. Diana Shnaider and Iva Jovic have both risen as a result of Jasmine Paolini dropping three spots.
Further down, Madison Keys in 22nd won Eastbourne and is up five spots while downturns by singular positions for Marie Bouzkova, Leylah Fernandez and Elise Mertens in 23rd, 24th and 27th. Emma Navarro also down two spots to World No.26.
Karolina Muchova, the Bad Homburg winner.
Jelena Ostapenko's good week in Eastbourne also sees her rise four spots. While around her in 31st, Alexandra Eala is down two. Emma Raducanu is down one as is Donna Vekic in the immediacy. While Xinyu Wang after losing in the semi-finals to Osaka is also a big winner. She goes up 13 spots to World No.39.
Other winners include Petra Marcinko (+4 to 47th), Zeynep Sonmez (+3 to 51st), Tereza Valentova (+7 to 54th) and McCartney Kessler (+5 to 57th).
Of course this will all shift after Wimbledon but these players have all staked their claim ahead of the latest Grand Slam which begins on Monday afternoon.
