Mirra Andreeva screams.
There has been a lot of changes in the WTA rankings after an electric couple of weeks at the French Open. While some players have succumbed under the huge pressure of defending tons of points, others have relished the opportunity and stormed ahead of the chasing pack.
The overall winner was Mirra Andreeva who left Paris as the champion after defeating the valiant Maja Chwalinska 6-3, 6-2 in the final. It was a tournament full of upsets and unexpected results as a new Grand Slam champion was crowned with fresh names making their intentions clear with stark rises up the order.

Andreeva on the march as Gauff falls

Aryna Sabalenka stays top despite dropping over 800 points. An opportunity missed for Elena Rybakina who is her closest threat to stealing the world number one spot. Iga Swiatek’s worst result as Roland Garros since her debut in 2019 does not see her move from third as Jessica Pegula and Amanda Anisimova place fourth a fifth despite dreadful showings.
The champion, Andreeva, only rose two positions despite the 2000 points added. She is sixth just under 1000 away from Wimbledon champion Swiatek with the momentum heavily behind the 19-year-old Russian. From one champion to another, yet Coco Gauff is no longer the reigning champion. She would fail to defend 1,870 of the 2000 points collected last year in a damaging outing. It is the lowest ranked since the latter half of 2023. Elina Svitolina drops a position despite reaching the quarter-final stage. Victoria Mboko and Karolina Muchova complete the top 10.
It is a now career high for a certain Marta Kostyuk who eventually lost her first match on clay this year in the semi-finals to Andreeva. The top 10 is possibly calling in the near future. Fellow semi-finalist Dian Shnaider climbs seven positions as she rises back into the top 20 in 16th. Another Russian in the form of Anna Kalinskaya was seen in the latter stages of the tournament, rising four places to cap off the top 20 in the world.

Chwalinska's incredible rise as Boisson plummets

The story of the Grand Slam has been Chwalinska. The Pole entered as the world number 114 in need of qualifying. She leaves as a Grand Slam runner-up and the world number 21 after one of the most extraordinary and sudden rises witnessed on the WTA Tour.

It is by far and away the biggest rise out of anyone. While she did not collect silverware, Alexandra Eala did in the Birmingham Open. Starting her grass season early, the Filipina won a second WTA 125 title and climbs up to 33rd in the world, on the brink of a return to the top 32.
Former world number three Maria Sakkari rises 12 places despite a third round exit. Former champion Barbora Krejcikova leads a Czech-dominated patch of the table, with positions 45-48 all residing from the same European country. Oleksandra Oliynykova is right on the cusp of breaking into the top 50 after a heroic run to the third round. Just behind her, reigning Queen’s Club Championships winner Tatjana Maria is set for a huge drop in the rankings. She has qualified for the tournament in London, but there is work to do to get those points back.
Diane Parry is now the French number one after reaching the last-16 on home soil. A huge 37-position rise to 55th cements that new tag with last year’s semi-finalist Lois Boisson paying the price for injury problems throughout 2025. She tumbled 112 places to 155 in the world, and that could get worse with the title in Hamburg set to be defended.
Other notable rises include Peyton Stearns (+16 to 62nd), Camila Osorio (+18 to 68th), Tamara Korpatsch (+16 to 79th), Alina Korneeva (+21 to 94th) and a return to the top 100 for Xiyu Wang after the qualifier reached the last-16. Dwarfed by Chwalinska’s mammoth climb, the Chinese gained 48 spots to now be in 100th.
