The ATP 250 Kitzbuhel Open confirmed its entry list once the grass-court season concluded. The tournament is set to play between July 20 and 26, featuring Casper Ruud, Sebastian Baez, and Nicolas Jarry as the top seeds in a clay-court event that will serve as preparation for the Olympic Games.
The tournament will have a draw of 28 players in singles, filled with clay-specialist players. Joining the draw are players like Alejandro Tabilo, Tomas Martin Etcheverry, and Matteo Berrettini, with a wild card confirmed for former US Open champion Dominic Thiem.
The 2023 champion is Sebastian Baez, who will be the second seed in his title defense. The Argentine defeated Dominic Thiem last year, who won the title in 2019 and played his only final in the past three years in 2023. Ruud, the top seed, also knows what it’s like to win the title in Kitzbuhel, having done so in 2021.
The South American contingent will also feature within the top 4 seeds Nicolas Jarry and Alejandro Tabilo. The Chileans recently stood out at the Masters 1000 Rome Open, where Tabilo reached the semifinals (eliminating Novak Djokovic along the way) and Jarry was the runner-up, with both losing to Alexander Zverev.
Another player looking to achieve a good result on clay will be Matteo Berrettini, who has already shown he can perform well on the surface, having won the ATP 250 Marrakech Open in April by defeating specialist Roberto Carballes Baena in the final.
