The entry
list for the
European Open Antwerp has been announced, featuring Stefanos
Tsitsipas,
Felix Auger-Aliassime, and
Sebastian Baez among the top players in
the draw. The tournament is set to take place from October 14-20 with a
28-player singles draw.
The
tournament will begin just one day after the Shanghai Masters concludes and
will feature eight seeds within the top 40. The top seed will be world No. 12
Tsitsipas, who is looking to turn around an inconsistent season.
Tsitsipas headlines European Open Antwerp entry list
Defending champion Alexander Bublik is not entered in the
tournament and will not be able to defend his title. The world No. 27 is
scheduled to compete that week at the ATP 500 Almaty Open in Kazakhstan, where
he will be the main local hope as the tournament returns for the first time
since 2019.
In Antwerp, several players will have the opportunity to
earn crucial points at the end of the season. Tsitsipas remains in contention
for a spot in the ATP Finals, currently 12th and over 500 points away from the
qualifying zone. The Greek could miss the tournament for the first time since
2018 after five consecutive appearances.
Felix Auger-Aliassime will be the second seed as he seeks to
regain positions in the ATP Rankings. The Canadian did not achieve deep runs
during the American hard-court swing and lost ground after a strong clay-court
season where he reached the final of the Madrid Masters 1000.
Argentinians Sebastian Baez (3rd),
Tomas Martin Etcheverry
(6th), and
Mariano Navone (8th) will be among the seeds, aiming to translate
their consistent clay-court results to hard courts. The seeds also include
Jordan Thompson (4th),
Nuno Borges (5th), and
Jiri Lehecka (7th).
Other notable names in the draw include Marcos Giron,
Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, Jakub Mensik, Juncheng Shang, Botic van de
Zandschulp, and wild card Richard Gasquet, who won the inaugural edition in
2017. You can find the complete entry list for the 9th edition of the European
Open below.
