Carlos Alcaraz saw off Novak Djokovic in the final of 2023 Wimbledon but he still considers the 23 time Grand Slam champion to be the best ATP player.
Alcaraz admitted that he admired Djokovic from a young age and him winning trophies and despite being the target in terms of numbers, he believes Djokovic is still the one to beat.
This after Djokovic also had some great words for Alcaraz saying that he had the best of the big three and was the most complete player he'd ever seen. High praise from both after a superb final.
"You always said that to be the best, you have to beat the best. Now you are the best, you beat the best. What is it like to be the best now and everyone wants to beat you," was the question on Tennis Channel.
"I still consider Novak the best. I have to beat him more than once or twice, it's probably different for other players. For some, I'm the best and I'm everyone's target, but I my eye on Novak and I want to play more times against him, it's really phenomenal when I'm on the court with him. But like I said, to be the best, I have to beat the best," Alcaraz said.
