After defeating Denis Istomin in the Roland Garros R1, Roger Federer once again spoke about the Olympic games.
Roger Federer made his return to Roland Garros a memorable one by defeating Denis Istomin fairly easily. It was a welcome sight but for Federer, the match is just one step towards his goals for this season. The Swiss ace has not shied away from naming them: Wimbledon and the Olympics. With the Olympics ever closer Federer was asked about it once more. He said:
"I don't know, I feel two ways. I would love to play. I wish things were better around the world that we wouldn't even have to debate the thought of is it going to happen, am I going to play or not?"
Federer is just one of the Athletes that has not yet confirmed his attendance though it is widely expected that the majority of them would play. Djokovic was another one who said he was not sure. His decision hinges on a possible ban of fans which would greatly diminish his desire to play. Federer further added:
"My wish and hope and dream is that I can play it. But it needs to make sense for me, my team, my family, my country. I'm still waiting to see how things are going to develop the next couple of weeks and month."
Federer will continue his French Open campaign with a 2nd round match against Marin Cilic.
