World No.1 Novak Djokovic did not spend too much time celebrating his title victory at Roland Garros (French Open), as the Serbian has set his sights on completing the Calendar Slam.
Djokovic defeated Casper Ruud in the Roland Garros final, winning his 23rd Grand Slam title. Furthermore, this puts him at two Majors for the season, as he won his 10th title at the Australian Open in February.
Nonetheless, the 36-year old appears ready to conquer another milestone; winning all four Majors in the same calendar year. After failing to do so in 2021 where he captured all Majors short of the US Open, Djokovic expressed his desire to make another attempt at achieving that feat.
"I’d like to get another chance in New York," he said in an interview on The Tennis Channel after his victory in Paris. "Of course, I have to win Wimbledon, which is a whole different mountain to climb. The fact that I won the last four Wimbledons gives me a lot of confidence and I look forward to that. I really do. I love playing there, that's the dream tournament, always has been for me.
“If that happens, I'd love to get a chance to go for another chance at the history in New York. I missed the history couple [of] years ago in the last match, with [Daniil] Medvedev. But I felt the love from New Yorkers, from all the people who were there. I was actually blown away with emotions of what they've brought to me on that day, on the court. So I can't wait to go back and play in New York."
