Cameron
Norrie withdrew from the
Cincinnati Open just a few days after missing the
Canadian Open. The Brit No. 2 hasn't had a good month, as injuries have kept
him off the court.
Recently,
he withdrew from his first-round match at the Olympic Games before facing
Tallon Griekspoor. According to the LTA, Norrie was not in a condition to
participate in the draw due to an injury, although they did not specify the
nature of the injury.
Norrie out of Cincinnati
Earlier
this week, Norrie withdrew from the Canadian Open and was replaced by
Australian James Duckworth. Although his return was expected in Cincinnati, it
was announced that he withdrew from the draw of the next Masters 1000, just two
weeks before the start of the
US Open.
Norrie was
removed from the Cincinnati entry list, and Miomir Kecmanovic took his place.
The 28-year-old Brit is still listed for the US Open, although this could
change, considering that there is still no clarity on what type of injury is
affecting the current world No. 47.
Recently,
Norrie mentioned that he was fighting to compete with
Jack Draper for the Brit
No. 1 spot and trying to fill the gap left by
Andy Murray's retirement: "I
would love that to happen, and it’s definitely possible," said Norrie.
"I know Jack has an incredibly high level of tennis, but we’ve got to get
the most out of ourselves to make it happen. He has matured so much, and I
would like to be competing at the highest level of the game against each
other."
