Over the generations, we've witnessed iconic rivalries, triumphant feats and heroic defeats. But while the names may change, the drama remains. New storylines await us, and #Wimbledon will once again be Always Like Never Before ✨
With the 2023 Wimbledon Championships set to begin on July 3, there is a lot of speculation and suspense as to whom will be the last two players standing.
Defending champion Novak Djokovic is always a favorite to reach the final Sunday, but his potential opponent could range from being a top-seeded player to a darkhorse or even an unknown Cinderella story.
Last year's surprise finalist was Nick Kyrgios, and following some injuries the Australian is doing all he can to get ready for this year's event. This brings up the question of the previous finalists, with fans noticing that each runner-up from 2016 has fallen off or lost their momentum since reaching the final.
2016: Milos Raonic finished runner-up, and the Canadian has been ravaged by injuries over the past few years.
2017: Marin Cilic, has suffered a dip in form and is currently ranked 100th.
2018: Kevin Anderson, dealt with injuries after finishing in second place before eventually retiring.
2019: Roger Federer, retired last year after dealing with a lingering knee issue.
2021: Matteo Berrettini, experienced a dip in form due to injury
2022: Kyrgios, currently with a knee injury brought about by a tear in his lateral meniscus.
Although Kyrgios has not withdrawn from Wimbledon, his lingering knee issue is not a good sign for his performance during the rest of the 2023 season.
