Novak
Djokovic will reach ten years undefeated on Wimbledon's Centre Court.
The Serbian
will enter the third Grand Slam of the year as the top favorite, having already
conquered the Australian Open and French Open trophies earlier this year.
Furthermore, Novak Djokovic has been the champion of the last four Wimbledon
editions.
An
impressive fact has been revealed: 'Nole' will complete 10 years without being
defeated on the Centre Court of the All England Club. His last loss came in
2013 against Andy Murray in the Wimbledon final. Djokovic was the world No. 1
at the time, while Murray was the world No. 2. Murray won the match 6-4, 7-5,
6-4, securing his second Grand Slam title and first Wimbledon title.
Since then,
Djokovic has lifted the trophy on six occasions and has only suffered two
defeats, both on Court 1 of the tournament. In 2016, as the top seed, he lost
in the third round to the world No. 28 Sam Querrey 6-7, 1-6, 4-3, 6-7 on Court
1.
In 2017, he
retired during his quarterfinal match against Tomas Berdych when trailing 7-6,
2-0, also on Court 1.
The 23-time
Grand Slam champion aims to secure his eighth Wimbledon title in 2023, fifth
consecutive, and is the top favorite to lift another trophy.
