Former World No.1 Andy Murray has arrived in Paris and begun preparations for Roland Garros, an event he has not competed at in three and a half years.
Following his US Open exit, the Brit travelled to France to begin training for the clay-court Grand Slam. However, he ran into some trouble as he was required to take a coronavirus test upon arrival and test negative before he could begin practicing.
"We had to get a test when we got back from New York and test negative before we could leave the house," said Murray.
Unfortunately, the 33-year old had developed a pelvic issue during the US Open and a scan showed there was tendonitis of the psoas muscle, which joins the lower back to the top of the leg. However, he was unable to seek any immediate medical attention upon arrival due to the quarantine restrictions.
"There was a bit of an issue with my test," Murray revealed. "It took five or six days to come back, so in was my house for five or six days and I couldn't get that checked out."
After testing negative, the Brit had to adjust his training schedule as he transitions to playing on clay. He will face Stan Wawrinka in the first round of Roland Garros, which kicks off on Sunday September 27.
