Joao Fonseca aims to win his second main tour title on Sunday as he plays in the Swiss Indoors Basel Final but it has also been a good week for the Brazilian when it comes to the race to the
Next Gen ATP Finals where he is the defending champion. Albeit the top three are likely qualified by this point.
The top three sees
Jakub Mensik who withdrew from Paris next week take part. He is top with 2,140 and is a top 20 player anyway so is very much the standout but he also was last year alongside Arthur Fils. He may still not decided to play in the tournament which would push Rafael Jodar or Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez into contention.
Learner Tien is next who also played last year, he is now third with Fonseca's run to today's final seeing him surge up to second in the live rankings and given he may still add 500 points this week, it could still be a second place by some distance.
Then the reason why even though they are not officially qualified yet that the leading trio are seen as all but is due to the fact that fourth place is so much far back. Dino Prizmic is next up in fourth with 487 points. While Martin Landaluce is in fifth with 455 points.
We go all the way back to sixth where rising Danish star Nikolai Budkov Kjaer who is just behind Landaluce. Alexander Blockx, the rising Belgian is in seventh while finally Nishesh Basavareddy is in the last spot.
The top eight players in the 2025 Race to Jeddah will qualify. Eligible players must be 20 or under at the end of the calendar year. Fonseca is the reigning champion and is eligible to defend his title. Players must be born in 2005 or later and so it is the last year of a few of the talents including Mensik, Tien, Prizmic, Blockx and Basavareddy. They are all now 20.
