Novak Djokovic will set his sights on becoming a champion for the first time in 2024, but he could unlock a record that is unlikely to ever be beaten by claiming the
Monte-Carlo Masters called the Djokémon Gen III.
Dubbed as such by journalist, Ben Rothenberg who highlighted the potential feat, Djokovic would complete the feat of winning every Grand Slam, ATP 1000 and Year End Championship (ATP Finals) thrice.
A feat that given his current Grand Slam record which is unlikely to be touched at least in the modern era, Djokovic likely won't ever be beaten in completing this. He will face stern competition in trying to claim it.
Recent defeats have shown that there is some sort of barrier to the usual dominance there for Djokovic. Since losing to Jannik Sinner at the Davis Cup Finals, he has since lost to the Italian again as well as unknown, Luca Nardi at Indian Wells. He did not play Miami saying he wanted to balance his personal and professional schedule.
Novak Djokovic has not won the Monte-Carlo Masters since 2015 and is a two-time champion in the tournament.
This is slightly understandable simply due to the upcoming clay court schedule which sees the Monte-Carlo Masters followed by Madrid Open and Rome Open at least with scope also to play in Barcelona for instance if he needs extra practice. But it will now be time for Djokovic to put his doubters in their place. So the race is on for the Djokémon Gen III.
With Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz in particular figuring so high compared to everyone else in the game at the moment, it won't be easy for the 24-time Grand Slam champion.
