The Winston-Salem Open acts as the final pre-cursor to the US Open with Andy Murray the headline name to take part in this years tournament after it was announced the former World Number 1 was set to receive a wildcard.
Wake Forest University is the home of the ATP 250 tournament; with previous winners including John Isner, Marin Čilič and the defending champion is Daniil Medvedev.
The tournament due to it falling so close to the US Open and other hard-court tournaments including the Western & Southern Open and Rogers Cup does not attract the top 10 names; but alongside Murray; Frances Tiafoe, Denis Shapovalov, Dan Evans and Benoit Paire will take part meaning it is still very much competitive.
The winner will claim $96,505 and 250 points onto their ranking; with the runner-up getting $56,000 + 150 points.
Points wise it begins at Round 2 with 10 points if you lose out there and $6,500, the first round losers will just claim $3,950.
This tournament as a result without the big names is good to add points onto the ranking and in some cases provide some practice ahead of the US Open.
