The Quarter-Final Schedule of Play is confirmed at the Chile Open which is into it's latter stages in Santiago.
On the Central Court, the Schedule of Play begins with Federico Delbonis taking on Casper Ruud. The former navigated through against Martin Klizan before then seeing off Salvatore Caruso but he has a tough test awaiting him against the Norwegian.
Ruud
navigated past Alejandro Tabilo after raising his level winning 6-4, 7-5 and it made up for the disappointment of losing out in the Rio Open in the first round; after establishing himself further with some brilliant early season form. He will hope for the same in Santiago in the latter stages of the tournament; he should get this against Delbonis.
Then it is Thiago Monteiro against Albert Ramos-Vinolas. Despite not being as good as he has been in the past, he is still very strong on the clay courts and that showed against Juan Pablo Virallas in his opener; after the disappointment of losing to
Carlos Alcaraz in Rio.
Monteiro seems to be enjoying his tennis in Chile though and his forehand in particular has shown the strength he has whilst playing in the altitude and he has split both meetings they have had at elevated venues meaning that it could go either way but will likely be in the Brazilian's favour.
Dellien to continue form and is Garin's unbeaten streak set to end?
Then it is Renzo Olivo against Hugo Dellien. For the latter he has played exceptionally in the Chilean capital in both a previous Challenger and this event showing how good he is in these conditions; he has only dropped one set in defeating Marco Cecchinato and Tomas Barrios Vera.
Olivo on the otherhand was trailing by a set and 3-5 to Pablo Cuevas; but rallied well to secure him victory but the head to head record and the form points mainly to Dellien.
Then finally we get to see the man in form, Cristian Garin. He
extended his unbeaten streak to ten matches and despite showing signs of injury and fatigue, he saw off Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Davidovich Fokina himself hit 11 double faults which could have proved the difference; the unbeaten streak could be over for Garin if his injury/fatigue does not subside; as he takes on Thiago Seyboth Wild who has been brilliant this week and has reached the Quarter-Finals in two tournaments running and if he fires, he could make it a semi-final.
