Rafael Nadal has been one of the more consistent tennis players over the past 15 years and one distinctive ATP state proves just that.
When people talk about the big three of tennis they usually associate Nadal with the adjectives of fighter. His physical style of tennis has served him well in his career but also caused quite a bit of injury to his body. When observing the scope of injuries the Spaniard suffered over the years it's quite remarkable to look at his consistent level in top tennis.
The Spaniard has gone numerous seasons with at least one grand slam win during the year and that is why the Spaniard has played many times at the ATP Finals. The FInals are reserved for the players that accumulate the most points during a calendar year which usually happens with consistently great play. This year his season was largely derailed by injury and that is why he failed to qualify for the ATP Finals.
It's actually the first time he failed to qualify since 2004 which is truly remarkable. Nadal did not play every year in the ATP Finals but since 2004 he always had enough points to qualify. And it's only in one of the final weeks of the 2021 season that he failed to officially qualify. And he's been out since August. Hopefully, he recovers well from his injury and returns in 2022.
