The sunshine of Tennis Paradise in California seems to not be descending down on the top clash of Saturday night at Indian Wells between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. Both players had to go off as soon as the match began almost due to a rain delay.
Sinner led proceedings 2-1 after only 14 minutes of play and he had a heart-warming moment where he shared his umbrella with a ball girl and was chatting to her as the rain came down. They did end up back on court momentarily and it seemed like the show was back on the road.
But this soon ended as they had to trudge off again after a light knock between the pair as the rain intensified. Also during the tournament, Maria Sakkari was affected by rain last night with the Greek having to go off for a lengthy rain delay on the verge of winning.
Albeit Sinner isn't that far gone in the tie yet. But with 30 minutes since the last point, they ended up back in the locker room ready for the storm to pass and the match to restart. Ominous for Medvedev and Paul who have to follow later this evening if this doesn't subside imminently.
