The 20-time Major champion
Roger Federer will compete at
Geneva Open between May 17-22, taking the opportunity to play the home event two weeks ahead of
Roland Garros!
When Roland Garros moved for one week from the end of May to June, the geneva Open organizers hoped to sign Roger Federer and improve their field by a mile, hoping the Swiss star would love to compete in one of his favorite cities. Roger heard their hopes and wishes, signing to play the ATP 250 event and chase the first title in geneva since the Laver Cup 2019.
Staged at the Tennis Club de Genève at Parc des Eaux-Vives, the oldest and largest tennis club in Switzerland, the Banque Eric Sturdza Geneva Open returned to the ATP calendar in 2015. Struggling with a knee injury, Federer underwent two surgeries in February and May last year, skipping almost the entire season and making a long-awaited return this March in Doha.
Roger played two matches and missed Dubai and Miami, staying at home and sharing no news about his schedule. Now, it is confirmed that Roger will compete on clay this spring, playing Geneva and probably entering Madrid and Roland Garros as well. Federer has already withdrawn from Rome, where he played for the last time in 2019.
