Andrey Rublev and Pablo Carreno-Busta advanced to the fourth round of the 2020 Roland Garros, on the other hand the seventh-seeded Matteo Berrettini was not so successful as he lost to Daniel Altmaier.
Saturday in Paris started with a plenty of action as three ATP matches kicked-off the day. It was a really star-studded line-up as we've seen Kevin Anderson, Andrey Rublev, Roberto Bautista Agut, Pablo Carreno-Busta, Matteo Berrettini and Daniel Altmaier battling for their fourth-round spot at the 2020 Roland Garros.
The 22-years-old Russian was the first one to enjoy the shower after a third-round match. Rublev took on Anderson and despite the quality performances the South African was showing, Rublev showed his dominance on the court. During the match, he didn't allow his opponent to have a single breakpoint, on the other hand, he converted 5 out of 13 opportunities he had to win the match 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 in only an hour and 36 minutes.
The match between Daniel Altmaier and Matteo Berrettini also ended quickly, but differently than everybody expected. The 22-years-old German qualifier is in a life form and the seventh-seeded Italian also experienced that. After defeating Feliciano Lopez and Jan-Lennard Struff without losing a set, Daniel Altmaier continued in a similar style also against Matteo Berrettini. The German triumphed 6-2, 7-6(5), 6-4 in 2 hours and 18 minutes to set up a fourth-round clash with a Spaniard.
At the time of ending his match, he didn't yet know which Spaniard it's going to be as the tenth-seeded Roberto Bautista Agut was playing against no. 17 in Paris, Pablo Carreno-Busta. The match provided the longest experience from the trio of the first matches on Saturday as the Spaniards battled for 3 hours and 24 minutes on the court.
It was Carreno-Busta who took the first two sets when he led 6-4, 6-3 after just and hour and half. However, it seemed that Bautista Agut will be able to come back as he broke his opponent in the longest game of the match to get a 6-5 lead in the third set and eventually won it 7-5. However, despite having a 4-2 lead also in the fourth set, Bautista Agut failed to continue playing in a similar style what allowed his opponent to win 4 games in a row and win the fourth set 6-4 to book the fourth-round spot at the 2020 Roland Garros.
