The third day of action is here at the 2025 Barcelona Open with Quarter-Finals to be set at the Conde de Godo. Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Holger Rune are involved on Wednesday.
To start off though is a home hope against one of the best rising young players in Arthur FIls who faces Pedro Martinez. The Frenchman ironically since ditching Sebastian Grosjean has been winning matches left right and centre and will be one of the leading favourites this week.
As will the next game. Holger Rune is sixth seed this week and will face the king of South American clay in Sebastian Baez who will hope to bring his form from these events into Europe playing Barcelona and perhaps will be a favourite for today.
Stefanos Tsitsipas then faces Sebastian Korda in perhaps the top tie of the day. In terms of Head to Head, it is 1-1 between the pair. Korda won their last meeting in Miami last month 7-6, 6-3.
Before that it was not a match that had taken place since 2021 as Tsitsipas defeated Korda back at the 2021 Cincinnati Open 7-6, 6-3. Tsitsipas breezed past Reilly Opelka 6-2, 6-2 in the first round but now gets a tougher American in the second round for a spot in the Quarter-Finals.
Casper Ruud then ends the day as he faces Hamad Medjedovic. Ruud is the defending champion and will look to stake his claim for the title again in the coming days. He is usually superb on European clay but this will be the true gauge as to what Ruud is playing this time around.
Against Novak Djokovic's prodigy, he will hope to exert dominance and avoid an early exit like he suffered at the Monte-Carlo Masters. That ends Wednesday afternoon in the Spanish city.
