Dominic Thiem and Stefanos Tsitsipas have updated a major milestone at Kitzbuhel and the Los Cabos Open, as they hold third and fourth on the list of most ATP finals reached by players aged 33 and under.
Thiem and Tsitsipas have had wildly different results for most of this season. Currently the world No. 5, the latter reached the Australian Open final where he got very close to clinching the world No. 1 ranking for the first time before being defeated by Novak Djokovic.
On the other hand, 2020 US Open champion Thiem has gone out in the first round of every Grand Slam so far this year, most recently losing to Tsitsipas in his opening match at Wimbledon, although he did take it to five sets.
Nevertheless, both men have had strong careers so far, and this is reflected by the fact that they have both reached almost 30 ATP finals.
This is a number to which they have been able to add recently, as the Greek player has reached his final at the Los Cabos Open while Thiem is hoping for a win on home soil at the Austrian Open final.
Top seed Tsitsipas defeated Borna Coric in his semi-final and will face fifth seed Alex de Minaur in his attempt to clinch his tenth ATP title. Meanwhile, Thiem beat Laslo Djere to reach his final, where at the time of writing he is playing against Sebastien Baez.
Furthermore, this keeps them at fourth and third on the list of most ATP finals reached by players born after 1990. At the top is 27-year-old Daniil Medvedev with 33, followed by 26-year-old Zverev with 31. 29-year-old Thiem is close behind with 29 finals, and 24-year-old Tsitsipas closes the top 4 with 27.
