It was a different day in the office for
Stefanos Tsitsipas and
Dominic Thiem as one moved on while the other crashed out.
Stefanos Tsitsipas was the first to play today and the Greek continued his sensational clay run with a strong performance against Tommy Paul. The American has a game that is not well suited for clay as it's centred around his good serve but Tsitsipas was once again fabulous.
The first set was a 29-minute trashing with Stefanos winning it 6-1 despite only hitting 40 % of his first serves. He was simply too good in rallies and Paul was not able to keep up with the Greek. The 2nd was a bit better by Paul but Tsitsipas once again found a way and won it 6-4. The 76-minute match did not feature a single break point for Paul.
Dominic Thiem did not produce the level of tennis Tsitsipas produce but he got to watch some of the magic coming from the other side.
Cameron Norrie has been one of the biggest surprises on the clay the season as the Brit was able to produce notable performance one should not expect from British players.
Today he was simply phenomenal defeating Thiem in straight sets 6-3 6-2. Thiem was simply overmatched by Norrie who served great and lost only one point on his first serve in the entire match. Thiem on the other hand allowed Norrie a chance and the Brit took it.
The 2nd set was even more impressive by the Brit who once again was clinical on his own serve dropping only one point by the time he served for the match. On return, he used both of his break points to take a double break lead. In the end, it lasted only 64 minutes with Norrie coming out on top.
