Jannik Sinner has been praised for his impressive shots after winning a 46-ball rally against Tommy Paul ahead of reaching the National Bank Canadian Open final in Toronto.
World No. 8 Sinner has had a highly successful run at the ATP Masters 1000 event. The Italian player defeated compatriot Matteo Berrettini, as well as Andy Murray and Gael Monfils on his way to the semi-finals.
Once there, he faced twelfth seed Paul, who had just emerged victorious against world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals.

Sinner on form in semi-final match

Sinner, who is seeded seventh at the tournament, was on form against the American, hitting some powerful shots to prevail 6-4, 6-4. He claimed the fifth break point of the match to win the first set, before taking a 3-1 lead in the second.
However, after going four break points down in the second set, Paul began to fight back, as he created break points in each of Sinner's next three service games. Nevertheless, the 21-year-old was able to fend off five of these, including one 46-ball rally that lasted over a minute when Sinner was leading 4-2.
The Tennis Letter shared a video of the powerful rally on Twitter, with the caption:
"Sinner wins the most exhausting point of the tournament against Tommy Paul. // 46 shot rally. // Jannik does not hit the ball. // He THUMPS it. // Few people in history have ever hit a tennis ball as cleanly as him. // Jannik, have mercy."

Sinner to face de Minaur in final

Sinner will go on to face Alex de Minaur in the final, where he will be hoping to secure his first ATP Masters 1000 title. The young player has reached two other finals at this level on the Tour and already has 7 ATP titles across 500 and 250 events, suggesting it is only a matter of time.
Despite this, Sinner knows that he faces a strong opponent in the Australian, as the pair played in doubles together earlier in the tournament.
"Alex is an incredible player. He's showing that here in this tournament and the week before making the final in Los Cabos. Hopefully it's going to be a great match," he said.
