The world No. 1 Jannik Sinner suffered a heavy fall midway through his Wimbledon first-round match against Miomir Kecmanovic, briefly alarming the Centre Court crowd before continuing without any apparent injury. The defending champion was forced into a physically demanding contest, particularly after a slip in the third set raised concerns over his condition.
Sinner did not start the match comfortably, as Kecmanovic broke late in the opening set to take control of the scoreboard. The Serbian held firm on serve in the following game and closed out the set 6-4, putting immediate pressure on the 4-time Grand Slam champion.
The world No. 1 responded strongly in the second set, finding a higher level on serve and breaking early to establish control. Sinner maintained a perfect run behind his first serve for long stretches, winning a high percentage of those points and facing just one break point, which he saved to stay ahead throughout the set.
However, the contest became more complicated in the third set, where both players held serve consistently and neither was able to establish a break. At 2-2 and 15-30 on Kecmanovic’s serve, a dramatic moment shifted attention away from the tennis.

Sinner’s slip raises concern on Centre Court

During a baseline exchange in that game, Sinner lost his footing while pushing off his right leg and went down heavily on Centre Court. The fall immediately drew concern from the crowd, as the Italian remained on the ground for several seconds after the impact.
The chair umpire briefly left her seat to check on Sinner’s condition, while players and spectators waited for clarity. Despite the awkward nature of the fall, Sinner was able to get back to his feet and continue the match without medical intervention.
Although the incident looked serious in real time, it ultimately proved to be only a scare. Sinner showed no visible physical limitations after the slip and resumed play at a competitive level. Both players held serve through the remainder of the set, pushing it into a tie-break.
