Carlos Alcaraz and
Rafael Nadal have been touted for `an
Olympic Games pairing which the former after he took down Jan-Lennard Struff this past Tuesday reiterated was still the case but there is one big problem for the pair.
With both putting huge stock into
Roland Garros and of course at least for Alcaraz, his Wimbledon title defence taking place afterwards, he is very much unlikely to find time to team with him beforehand to find rhythm. Despite being a good team on paper, neither play doubles and with no clay after Roland Garros, there is no time to prep. Especially given both players aren't at their best physically.
"If everything goes to plan, like I have already said, we will play the doubles together at the Olympics," said Alcaraz. "But there is a long way to go till it gets underway."
"We have said how wonderful it would be to play a tournament before the Olympics," said Alcaraz.
"But that will be difficult. On clay the next two tournaments are Rome and Roland Garros, which are hugely important to both of us in terms of the singles. Considering we are not at our physical peak it will be tough to play both a tournament and the Olympics."
