"We would have had a lot of fun" says Federer as he missed the 2021 ATP finals

Roger Federer missed out on the 2021 ATP Finals and the Swiss player was left gutted because he would have enjoyed playing on the fast courts.

Roger Federer was not able to play much tennis in 2021 due to his persistent knee issues that required another surgery this year. His return is many months away with an estimate predicting Federer will be back during the summer of 2022. Speaking about his career and the 2021 season, Federer admitted that his biggest regret was missing the 2021 ATP Finals.

The courts in Turin were one of the fastest this year along with the US Open ones. Speaking on that Federer said:

“The courts here this year are actually quite fast, we would have had a lot of fun, maybe in the future we’ll have the opportunity to enjoy them. I heard also the US Open was fast, I’m hearing the Tour Finals is fast, so I’m missing out."

Federer further said:

“It’s all good, it’s part of the game. I’ve had a great career so far, and I’ve learned a lot on the slow courts. I’ve enjoyed playing on the fast courts as well, but also clay is where I grew up so no problem.
