The best players in the world are set to travel to Wimbledon and compete in one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments on the calendar. There is set to be an abundance of talent making the trip as they challenge for major glory, but there are some notable exceptions.
The tournament is set to take place from June 29 - July 12. Reigning champions Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek lead the ATP and WTA tournaments as they look to reclaim their title on the big stage. However, there will be challengers.
Sinner is the big favourite to win Wimbledon, but there are some questions lingering from that Roland Garros tournament. The champion in Paris, Alexander Zverev, and Novak Djokovic will be the main challengers for the Italian's crowd with the likes of Ben Shelton, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Taylor Fritz, Alex de Minaur and Daniil Medvedev among the other title contenders.
It is very open in the women's event. Swiatek is not in blistering form and could be caught out. The same could be said for many of the top players as shown throughout the clay swing. World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka and former champion Elena Rybakina lead the field with Jessica Pegula, Amanda Anisimova, Coco Gauff, Elina Svitolina and Mirra Andreeva all hoping to leave South London a Grand Slam champion.

Alcaraz and Musetti notable exclusions

There are some huge names missing, and none bigger than Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard won the title in 2023 and 2024 before losing in the final last year against Sinner. He is still sidelined with a hugely frustrating wrist injury which he picked up at the Barcelona Open. He has since missed the rest of the clay swing as well as all the action on grass. Wimbledon has come too soon for the six-time Grand Slam champion who will be forced to watch proceedings from his sofa.
Former semi-finalist Lorenzo Musetti will also miss out. It has been a turbulent year for the 24-year-old who has suffered with injuries throughout. He has been forced to pull out of a number of events, having previously missed Roland Garros and now Wimbledon in a bitter blow.
Shanghai Masters champion Valentin Vacherot will have to wait another year to make his Wimbledon main draw debut while Holger Rune continues to be sidelined as he awaits his highly anticipated return to action following his nasty achilles injury.
Tomas Machac, Sebastian Korda, Arthur Cazaux, Eliot Spizzirri and Reilly Opelka all miss out. Matteo Berrettini is one of the notable winners from this as the 2021 finalist comes off the back of a run to the quarter-final in Paris.

Mboko big name missing

Before the grass swing began, there were not too many high profile casualties confirmed for Wimbledon. However, following the competition at Queen's, Victoria Mboko would succumb her chance of challenging for a maiden Grand Slam title after suffering a nasty tumble.
She is the highest ranked WTA player not to feature in the tournament. Hailey Baptiste was having the season of her life before an ACL injury halted any progress she was making. The American will not be on the court for a while as she recovers. Cristina Bucsa, Varvara Gracheva, Veronika Kudermetova and British number three Sonay Kartal will all miss out.
Maybe most notably the absence of Marketa Vondrousova will be hit the hardest. The 2023 champion has been suspended for a whopping four years following her missing a drug test back in December. She has been supported by many other tennis players on the WTA Circuit but will not be featuring in any tennis tournaments any time soon.
