Carlos Alcaraz has once again surpassed the Big-3 in an earliness record, becoming the youngest player to win titles on all surfaces. Alcaraz now holds 17 titles in 22 finals (77%), with his Rotterdam victory marking his first indoor hardcourt triumph.
The Spaniard completed his collection at 21 years and 9 months, surpassing Roger Federer, who achieved the feat at 21 years and 10 months. He also leaves behind Rafael Nadal (22 years) and Novak Djokovic (24 years and 1 month).
The world No. 3 defeated Alex de Minaur in Sunday’s ABN AMRO Open final 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. Alcaraz won 66% of his service points compared to the Australian’s 63% and converted four of his eight break point opportunities to secure the first indoor hardcourt title of his career.
Alcaraz won his first title at the 2022 Croatia Open on clay. Nine months later, he claimed his first hardcourt title in Miami, and in 2023, he triumphed on grass at the Queen’s Club Championships. Until this week, the Spaniard had never reached an indoor final.
Federer previously achieved the milestone at 21 years and 10 months after winning the 2003 Halle Open, his first grass-court title. Similarly, Nadal completed his surface sweep at Queen’s Club in 2008, while Djokovic did so at Wimbledon in 2011—both also on grass.
Carlos Alcaraz leaves Rotterdam feeling delighted, having been embraced by the 🇳🇱 fans from the moment he arrived. 🤗
