Alexander Zverev has fond memories of the
ATP Finals in London where he won the title two years ago defeating Federer and Djokovic in the process.
The 2020 ATP Finals will be the last one held in London and for Zverev it is a bit of a bittersweet moment as he has really fond memories of London
winning two years ago. It will be his 4th time participating as he spoke about the fact that there won't be any fans:
“It’s a little bit upsetting, of course. London is a place where we love the atmosphere, we love the stadium and everything. It’s going to be difficult, it’s going to be different, but I’m still looking forward to playing in this beautiful stadium for the last time at the
ATP Finals. It’s still going to be special.”
The draw determined that he will be part of the group where world number one Djokovic is and speaking of that he said:
“Novak is a great player no matter where you play him. He’s tough to beat. I played him twice here in the same year. Obviously, I won once, I lost once. He’s going to be difficult. I think he’s the favourite in our group and everybody’s going to look forward to playing him. You have to play your best to have a chance against him.”
Zverev was having a strong run during this final stretch in the season capturing two titles in Cologne and also playing the final in Paris. He was close to winning Paris but Medvedev outplayed him to win the trophy but nonetheless, the German is looking forward to London recapping:
“I am looking forward to playing here for the last time in London.”
