The WTA semi-finals will first see Ekaterina Alexandrova face off against Jelena Ostapenko. The Russian saw off Elena Rybakina ending her incredible form as of late and furthering her own ambitions. It was an emphatic 6-3, 6-3 win for Alexandrova and next up is Ostapenko who aside from a meltdown during her loss to Victoria Azarenka last week has been in superb form to start the year.
After two three set wins, she saw off Marta Kostyuk in two sets on Thursday and will aim to topple Alexandrova next. While in the second tie, Jessica Pegula and Daria Kasatkina will battle in the night session.
Pegula who is known as the WTA's most consistent performer hasn't really been this week and has been getting away with it mostly. Still the favourite to claim the title, she will hope for a more easier assignment than she faced against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova where she survived a scare. Next up is Daria Kasatkina in the semi-finals.
While on the ATP side, it is Sebastian Korda who leads the way. He hasn't lost a set so far in his run this week seeing off Lorenzo Sonego 6-4, 7-6 and then defeated Christopher O'Connell 6-4, 6-4. Next up will be Jiri Lehecka who has played since the first round and saw off last up the second seed Nicolas Jarry to get to this point.
Then it is the turn of Jack Draper who continues his return to form after much mooted injury troubles. He has had a tough run on paper this week but has flew through seeing off Sebastian Baez 6-1, 6-3 and then Miomir Kecmanovic 5-7, 7-6, 7-6 and it was a lot more simpler as he saw off top seed Tommy Paul 6-1, 6-4. Next up is Alexander Bublik who has defeated James McCabe, Dan Evans and Lorenzo Musetti. But can another Brit be quelled or will Draper add another milestone to his comeback?
