Roger Federer is set to receive a warm welcoming into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony only took two minutes to sell out, showing how popular the Swiss tennis legend is.
As Hall of Fame inductees go, Federer is definitely one of the most deserving ones after everything he has done for the sport, most notably what he achieved in a legendary career. He amazed fans on court with some eye-catching tennis which was easy on the eye.
He was involved in some legendary and well-remembered rivalries. This includes his tussle with Rafael Nadal and his involvement in the 'Big Three' with them two and Novak Djokovic ruling the reigns for more than a decade.
In total he took home 20 Grand Slam titles. He won eight at Wimbledon, six in the Australian open, five at the US Open with just one title at Roland Garros in 2009 completing the career Grand Slam. He won six ATP Finals titles, 28 Masters 1000 victories, one Davis Cup success and a brace of Olympic medals, one gold and the other silver. In total, he ended his career with 103 ATP titles won. Only Jimmy Connors with 109 can boast a higher tally.
All this and more is why fans are eager to see the legend himself get confirmed into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. It was announced back in November that this would be the case, with the 44-year-old gracious and humbled by this unique honour. "I've always valued the history of tennis and the example set by those who came before me. To be recognised in this way by the sport and by my peers is deeply humbling," he said at the time.

Tickets sell out in a matter of minutes

Just two minutes would be the time it took for 4,500 tickets to be immediately snatched up by fans wanting to see the event in person at the Newport Casino on Rhode Island. 3,600 more were bought to watch the events outside the venue, upped from the original number of 900.
The Tennis Hall of Fame Instagram account posted a message on their page to explain the situation. "The Hall of Fame received unprecedented demand for the 2026 Induction Ceremony, and sols d out the tickets in two minutes," it read. "Anticipating this level of excitement, we created an official outdoor Watch Party that opened thousands of additional opportunities for fans to take part. As a small but historic venue, our capacity is limited, and we encourage fans to join the waitlists on our website and subscribe for updates."

The event is set to take place on August 29, with former American tennis player turned commentator Mary Carillo also being bestowed this immense honour alongside Federer.
The Newport Casino has been preparing for this lavished event as it went under $3 million renovations ahead of this event in preparation of hosting the greatest players to compete in the sport. The next high calibre player on this list could very well be Serena Williams who is eligible next year unless she makes a highly anticipated comeback.
