Andrey Rublev has been awarded for his efforts off the court with the prestigious Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award, representing his positive impact away from the court.
The 28-year-old set up the Andrey Rublev Foundation in March 2024. This was created with the aim offer resources and support children who are struggling with critical illnesses. This has been continued into 2025, with his charitable efforts not going unnoticed.
“I’m really happy to win the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award,” Rublev said in a video as he accepted the award. “We’re really working hard to improve our Foundation. We’re learning, it’s something new for us. It’s only been two years, so to win this award means a lot. We’re going to keep growing the Foundation and do better and more things. Thank you so much.”
His foundation has joined forces with other places of aid. The Andrey Rublev Foundation partnered up with Bambino Gesu Children’s Hospital in Rome. This intertwined with the tennis circuit heading to the Italian capital to compete in the Rome Open. Aside from competing, the Russian made a visit to the hospital. He spent time with the staff and patients, even offering presents out to the children in a very kind gesture.
At that time, a statement was published on the Andrey Rublev Foundation website. “I’ve been so fortunate to play a professional sport for a living and have my health. There are so many children in need of financial support for critical medical needs and being able to help them is a huge privilege for me. I look forward to working with kids, their families and doctors and helping them face a brighter future because of the resources I am fortunate enough to provide,” the world number 16 wrote.
As well as that, in 2025 they also partnered with Sant Joan de Déu Children's Hospital in Barcelona, a non-profit children's and maternal hospital in the Spanish city. While he was competing in the Barcelona Open, he took the time to also pay a visit to the hospital.
All of these generous acts, kind gestures and hard work has seen him rightfully earn this reward. It puts him in the same bracket as some of the best tennis players to have stepped onto the court. This includes Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Andre Agassi and John McEnroe. A high class list from an impressive individual.
Despite a lacklustre 2025 campaign on the court, he is still winning on it. He defeated Jack Draper in the Qatar Open for a very commendable title. He reached the final in the Hamburg Open, but was defeated by Flavio Cobolli. It was his first year since 2019 where he failed to add a major quarter-final to his ever-growing tally. This was one of the reasons why he finished outside of the top 10 for the first time since 2019. He will be hoping for a rejuvenated 2026 as he fights his way back up the pecking order.
