World number one Iga Swiatek has revealed that she had to overcome distractions to continue her dominance in women’s tennis.
The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the best players currently players in the women’s singles category. Swiatek was recently quoted in a report where she revealed how she had to overcome distractions to continue her progress on the court.
"I would say I'm doing good job, like, separating that,” she said. “I don't use really social media during the tournaments. I just post my stuff and that's all. For sure, when I go on social media when I'm not playing tournaments, yeah, it can distract a person.
“I would say also when you start making successes, having successes, it's easy to focus on the business part of the sport and forget what you are actually here to do, the work that you should put.
"I remember after I won my first Roland Garros, like 2 months I really was going the wrong path. The practices weren't a priority in my schedule, in my head, you know? I remember my team had to kind of push me right back on the right path.”
Swiatek had a mixed beginning to her 2024 campaign where she was knocked out of the Australian Open after losing in the third round to Linda Noskova with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
However, she bounced back as she lifted the WTA 1000 event — Qatar Open in Doha — after defeating Elena Rybakina in the final with a score of 7-6, 6-2.
