Kiki Bertens was supposed to welcome Kim Clijsters back on courts, however, the Dutch has withdrawn from the tournament.
Kiki Bertens is playing in a very good form at the moment when
she reached the final in St. Petersburg. In Dubai, Bertens was the 8th seeded and should have met former no. 1
Kim Clijsters in the first round. However, she has withdrawn from the tournament and so
the draw saw minor changes.
2020 Australian Open finalist, Garbine Muguruza who was supposed to play Elina Svitolina in the first round became the 9th seeded player. The Spaniard replaced Bertens in the draw and she will be playing Clijsters in the first round. Svitolina will meet the qualifier or lucky loser instead.
