The first day of action in the main draw at the Prague Open has seen victory for Genie Bouchard as she claimed her first clay court victory since 2018 in seeing off No.8 seed Veronika Kudermetova.

Bouchard who is fresh off involvement in World Team Tennis will have took a lot of confidence coming into Prague; after spending most of lockdown playing in exhibition tournaments and gaining form; with a tumultuous couple of years for the former Wimbledon finalist.
Now the World No.330, the popular Canadian who has been ranked as high as World No.5 came through with ease 6-0, 6-3. She hit 13 winners to only 10 unforced errors; as she set up a clash with Katerina Siniakova or Tamara Zidansek next up.
But despite Bouchard's brilliance, there was no further play today; with the chance to see Dayana Yastremska, Kristyna Pliskova and Elise Mertens in the singles as of yet as rain has paid heed to that.
Simona Halep was also set to be in action today; teaming with home hero Barbora Strycova in the doubles draw but instead it will continue on Tuesday.
