Emma Raducanu and Caroline Wozniacki will for the first time since their respective comebacks not need a wildcard in order to play a major tournament with the duo both qualifying by right for the 2024 US Open due to rankings.
Raducanu reached the third round of Wimbledon and is now up to World No.94 and with her not defending any sort of runs this time last year due to injury will gain over the next few weeks. Her chances of playing Cincinnati and Canada are a bit less clean cut due to respective cutoffs so wildcards may be needed. But it seems like her grass court gamble did pay off in the end.
The Brit received a lot of criticism for not attempting to play the French Open after not getting a wildcard. She withdrew from qualifying for both Roland Garros and Rome prior in two tournaments she was in reality never going to get them for due to the way their wildcard rules favour local players.
Instead she took the route of going back home and playing in Nottingham and Eastbourne gaining confidence boosting runs before losing to surprise package Lulu Sun at Wimbledon. But now she will head back to Flushing Meadows, the site of her initial success without the need to qualify or gain a wildcard.
Also a slight sigh of relief for the USTA with a few players including Raducanu now not needing them means less of a battle for the remaining spots. Wozniacki is the other player who will not now need them.
After being critical through her father of wildcard process, Caroline Wozniacki now won't need one.

The former World No.1 has also been criticised since her return this time last year. She was given a wildcard for the US Open but has since snubbed playing qualifying for tournaments and her father Piotr coined it disrespect that his daughter wasn't getting wildcards after her Roland Garros snub. She was given one for Wimbledon and reached the third round being thrashed by Elena Rybakina. But now she sits 72nd in the world and with a lot of players around her on similar points, she has scope to head towards the top 50 quite easily.
Other players weren't so lucky though when the Entry Lists were released. A trio of players will need wildcards likely. Naomi Osaka, the former World No.1 has perhaps made the most strides since returning at the turn of the year but sits around six outside of the cut off.
She no long her as a protected ranking to use. Neither does Angelique Kerber who sits way down in the top 200. Bianca Andreescu after only a few tournaments back hasn't made enough strides yet to get back into the spots. She sits 170th but being a former champion and a popular player in the US and Canada, she is likely to get a wildcard. Also she has shown she is deserving with her recent form reaching a final and having multiple runs at Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
Amanda Anisimova sits right near her in the rankings and is another prominent name who will need a wildcard. So whilst two leave the stage when it comes to the wildcard hunt, more will enter stage left as protected rankings expire. But who will have to play qualifying? At least for Raducanu and Wozniacki, it will now not be a consideration.
