The WTA 500 Toray Pan Pacific Open emerges as the last major WTA 500 event of the season, featuring four top-10 players and up to 10 from the top 20. For most of them, it will be their final event of the season, and it will be held from October 20 to 26 at the Utsubo Tennis Center—the venue since 2019.
The tournament is one of the most renowned events in the Asian swing, boasting former champions like Maria Sharapova, Caroline Wozniacki, Martina Hingis, and Lindsay Davenport. However, the defending champion, Zheng Qinwen, will not be present due to injury and will be unable to defend her 2024 trophy—when she defeated Sofia Kenin in a thrilling final.
The draw will be led by world No. 5 Jessica Pegula, who will be joined by Jasmine Paolini (No. 6), Elena Rybakina (No. 9), and Ekaterina Alexandrova (No. 10). For both Paolini and Rybakina, this will be a crucial event, as it will finalize their chances of qualifying for the WTA Finals in Riyadh at the end of the season. Similarly, Russia's Alexandrova is looking to close the year in the top 10.
The presence of former Grand Slam champions is guaranteed, led by local star Naomi Osaka (No. 16), in addition to stars like 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin (No. 24), 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu (No. 29), and 2023 Wimbledon champion Markéta Vondroušová.
Other notable names who made headlines this season will also join, including Clara Tauson (No. 12), Belinda Bencic (No. 13), Linda Noskova (No. 17), and Victoria Mboko (No. 22).
