As every year, the stars of the ATP have chosen the best tournaments on the Tour, in the usual awards ceremony held by the ATP for the highest-rated tournaments on the calendar. This includes tournaments in the ATP 250, 500, and Masters 1000 categories—the latter with a surprising result.
The Cincinnati Open claimed top honors as the ATP Masters 1000 Tournament of the Year for the first time in its storied 126-year history, following an ambitious $260 million transformation. It dethroned the usual dominance of Indian Wells, which had been winning the award year after year.
Meanwhile, the Qatar Open in Doha earned the same recognition at the ATP 500 level in its debut season as a newly upgraded event, while the Nordea Open in Bastad reaffirmed its legacy by securing its 13th trophy in the ATP 250 category.
This year’s survey results highlight the wide range of environments players most appreciate—from the cutting-edge facilities of the revamped Cincinnati complex to the cultural prestige of Doha’s Middle Eastern showcase and the seaside charm of Bastad’s clay courts. Each event has combined top-level competition with a unique fan experience, setting new benchmarks for hospitality, logistics, and atmosphere on the ATP Tour.
Beyond these marquee winners, six additional tournaments were recognised as Standards of Excellence honourees, including Shanghai (Masters 1000), Dubai and Barcelona (500), and Kitzbühel, Almaty and Stockholm (250).

Cincinnati’s $260 Million Transformation Pays Off

The Cincinnati Open lived up to its monumental renovation, doubling its footprint to more than 40 acres and turning its Lindner Family Tennis Center into an expansive, festival-like campus. The $260 million investment—supported by the City of Mason, Warren County, and the State of Ohio—elevated the event to a new standard of scale and comfort. Expanded draws, more player amenities, and fan-friendly features turned it into one of the most celebrated stops of the season.
“We are incredibly honored to be named ATP Masters 1000 Tournament of the Year for the first time in our history,” said tournament director Bob Moran. “This recognition is a reflection of the vision and commitment of Ben and Kelly Navarro, who set out to create a best-in-class experience not just for fans, but for the players who make this sport so special. This award is a true team achievement, and we’re grateful to the ATP and the players for recognizing that effort.”
In August, Carlos Alcaraz claimed the title after defeating Jannik Sinner in the final, following just five games. The Italian retired due to injury ahead of the US Open and the Spaniard took the title 5-0, ret. In the case of doubles, specialists Nikola Mektic and Rajeev Ram teamed up to defeat the Italian pair of Lorenzo Sonego and Lorenzo Musetti.

Doha shines in first year as an ATP 500

The Qatar Open had been one of the most valued tournaments in the ATP 250 category, which earned it the status that took its legacy to new heights after its elevation to ATP 500 status. The February tournament combined first-class facilities with exceptional hospitality, attracting a star-studded field that included Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.
“We are truly honoured to receive this award for best tournament in the ATP 500 category,” said tournament director Karim Alami. “This recognition reflects the passion, dedication and teamwork that define our event. From our incredible players and loyal fans to our committed sponsors and staff, everyone contributed to creating a world-class experience both on and off the court. This award inspires us to continue raising the bar and delivering an unforgettable tournament for years to come.”
The tournament culminated in an exciting final between Andrey Rublev and Jack Draper, where the Russian won the 17th title of his career and his second in Doha (previously crowned in 2020). In doubles, there was an all-British final where Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool defeated Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski.

Bastad continues to blend tradition with excellence

In Sweden, the Nordea Open reaffirmed its reputation as one of the ATP’s most beloved stops, winning ATP 250 Tournament of the Year for the 13th time—and for the second time in the past three seasons. Set against the scenic seaside backdrop of Bastad, the tournament remains a benchmark for hospitality and organisation.
“This is great news and we are of course happy and thankful. Our ambition is always to give the best services and hospitality to all our guests; players, partners and spectators,” said CEO & Managing Director Christer Hult. “This is confirmation that the team is doing a great job and it inspires us to continue developing the tournament even more. A big thanks to the players, our organisation and the ATP support team.”
Italian Luciano Darderi claimed the singles title, defeating Jesper De Jong in the final (6-4, 3-6, 6-3), while Guido Andreozzi and Sander Arends triumphed in doubles.
