Spain’s young tennis star
Carlos Alcaraz has admitted that
he wants to face legendary
Rafael Nadal a few more times before his retirement.
The 20-year-old is often regarded as one of the most
highly-rated young tennis players currently playing in the men’s singles
category.
Alcaraz broke onto the scene as someone who would be a natural
heir to the likes of Nadal as he is from the same country and was also trained
at the Rafael Nadal academy.
The current world number two was recently quoted in a report
where he stated that he would like to face Nadal a few more times before his retirement.
“Of course I would like to (play against Nadal), wherever it
is,” he said. “I would like to face him again, to compete against him, face to
face on the court… I would like to experience it one or two more times. As many
as possible. It would be incredible to be able to play him again.”
Nadal is often regarded as one of the greatest players in
the history of men’s singles tennis in the Open era, having won as many as 22
Grand Slam titles. The 37-year-old has already announced that the 2024 season
might well be his last as he has been struggling with fitness concerns over the
last few years.
