The Open 13 Provence 2020 final was supposed to be a good one and it certainly delivered. The 1st was largely dominated by Tsitsipas who had a better start. Felix struggled early and was slow to reach his spots on the court. His serve wasn't great and he got easily beaten from the baseline. Tsitsipas looked fresh and determined to attack his opponent early. It's a similar tactic Monfils employed in the Rotterdam final and, like there, it worked.
After a shaky start, Felix started playing better but the damage was done and he lost the set 6-3. Despite that, he had good momentum going into the 2nd set. If he could capitalize on it he would a decent shot to win his 1st title in Marseille.
Auger-Aliassime started the 2nd set in good fashion. He served much better and looked quite comfortable during play winning points with ease. The 5th and 6th games provided some spice to the final. After breaking Felix's serve in the 5th game Stefanos allowed himself to be broken in the very next game. For a moment it looked like the end was near but Felix once again battled back as he did so often during this past week. The Marseille crowd was overjoyed with the level of tennis displayed.
However, that took a toll because in the next game Auger-Alliasime was completely depleted. Stefanos sensed he had a chance to break his opponents serve again and he did. He wouldn't repeat his mistakes from 10 minutes ago and he won his service game comfortably. Felix responded with a quick one of his own but it didn't help him later as Stefanos closed out it without issues.
It was a good display by the Greek but his opponent clearly couldn't provide his best today. Fatigue from a lot of tennis played proved too difficult to overcome for the Canadian. The Marseille crowd enjoyed a very good final.
