Tennis coach
Patrick Mouratoglou has announced the end of an association
with Denmark’s
Holger Rune.
The 53-year-old announced the development on social media
platform X — previously known as Twitter — on Saturday where he thanked the
20-year-old and also wished him good luck for the future assignments.
"What a ride @holgerrune2003! In 9 months, winning Paris,
playing final of Monte Carlo and Rome, winning Stockholm and Munich…. From 30
to no4 ATP. Unfortunately, all the stories have to come to an end. I took the
utmost pleasure with you and I will always be your supporter. All
@mouratoglouacademy stays behind you. Good luck my friend,” he wrote.
The announcement came after Rune’s disappointing outing in
the ongoing
US Open 2023.
The current world number four suffered a shocking defeat in the
first round of the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year against Spain’s Roberto
Carballes Baena with a score of 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
It was the only Grand Slam in 2023 where Rune failed to make
it through to the fourth round or beyond.
During his time with Mouratoglou,
the Gentofte-born played in the quarterfinal of the French Open and Wimbledon
earlier in the year.
