Both ATP and WTA have cancelled the Asian Hard Court swing which takes place directly after the US Open due to China cancelling all international sporting events as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The WTA in particular is majorly affected with seven tour-level events this Autumn now cancelled; including the
WTA Finals Shenzhen now cancelled with a $14 million prize pot on offer in these events.
"We are extremely disappointed that our world-class events in China will not take place this year," stated WTA CEO Steve Simon.
"Unfortunately, this decision also includes the cancellation of the Shiseido WTA Finals Shenzhen and as result, the corresponding Porsche Race to Shenzhen. We do however respect the decision that has been made; we are eager to return to China as soon as possible next season."
For the ATP, it sees the
Shanghai Masters, the
China Open, the
Chengdu Open and the Zhuhai Championships off the calendar; with this part of the year now needing to be filled by both the ATP and WTA.
