After Marketa Vondrousova v Ons Jabeur was set up as the Women's Final at 2023
Wimbledon, it is the turn of the Men's Final to be confirmed on Friday afternoon.
The
schedule is now set for Semi-Finals Day on the men's side at the All England Lawn and Tennis Club and as ever, TennisUpToDate will
preview proceedings.
Four players remain, but who books their spot in Sunday's final?
Djokovic the favourite but could Sinner spring a surprise
An ever continuing theme during this year's Wimbledon and for the last ten years in fact since Andy Murray beat him last at the tournament has been
Novak Djokovic's dominance.
Many have seen his title win as a foregone conclusion and what comes with it is the eighth and record equalling Wimbledon crown as well as a record extending Grand Slam.
He would also go one away from the Calendar Grand Slam, an accolade he has long chased but never achieved.
He's had his battles at times with Andrey Rublev and Hubert Hurkacz giving the sternest test but he has won through fairly comfortably.
As has his next opponent but in truth how he is playing hasn't really been tested due to the opposition. Due to a favourable draw, he has defeated all players ranked outside of the top 70 so hasn't had a test yet.
He could beat Djokovic with many doubting him or ease to a defeat given the little really known about his form. But it is often as the saying goes, you can only beat what's in front of you.
He hasn't beaten Djokovic though with the Serbian holding a 2-0 advantage head to head. This includes last year's Wimbledon where he went two sets up and lost to Djokovic as well as an easy defeat at Monte Carlo last year.
He will look to embody the spirit of 2022 but get over the line this time.
Alcaraz-Medvedev awaits winner in second semi-final
The second semi-final also sees the two main rivals for Novak Djokovic right now and that's not counting out
Jannik Sinner.
Those being
Carlos Alcaraz and
Daniil Medvedev with the former US Open champions set to do battle.
Both getting to this position of the tournament despite both having doubts about grass prior to the tournament.
Alcaraz dispelled that slightly by winning Queen's and has been close to flawless since then, while Medvedev has bounced back after poor form at the end of the clay court season.
Medvedev has done all his work mainly on Court One and will be gutted that he can't continue that. He last defeated Christopher Eubanks and now has Alcaraz in his sights who has played mostly on Centre Court with his work on full display.
It is the third head to head match with Medvedev beating Alcaraz last time back in 2021 at the infancy of Alcaraz' rise. While Alcaraz turned the tables in March at Indian Wells.
Both have changed on grass since then so very much a coin toss of a second game.
