The 2025
Korea Open has been a staple on the WTA Tour for over two decades, and this year's edition will see several high-profile superstars return to compete for the distinguished title between
September 15-21, 2025.
A WTA 500 event, the Korea Open is a hardcourt tournament that takes place at the Seoul Olympic Park Tennis Center in South Korea. It is a week after the
US Open. Featuring 28 singles players and 16 doubles teams, the Korea Open was founded in 2004. However, the tournament officially became a WTA 500 event last year, with Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia defeating Australian Daria Kasatkina in the final to lift the trophy.
Both Haddad Maia and Kasatkina will return at this year's edition, with the former hoping to retain her title after a difficult 2025 season. However, the former finalists will face stiff opposition from some higher-ranked players this year.
Swiatek to headline the field
Polish superstar
Iga Swiatek is the top seed at the Korea Open. The reigning Wimbledon champion had not won a title since last year's Roland Garros tournament, but broke her drought at SW19 this summer.
Joining Swiatek in Seoul is the woman she defeated to lift her title at Wimbledon. American
Amanda Anisimova shocked fans around the world by reaching the final. Although she lost in decisive fashion to Swiatek, the second seed will hope to gain some vengeance should the duo meet in the final at this year's Korea Open.
The Russian contingent will be well-represented, with Ekaterina Alexandrova, Diana Shnaider and Veronika Kudermetova joining the field. Clara Tauson is also scheduled to compete, and the Danish star will be hoping to put her first round loss at Flushing Meadows behind her.
Americans Sofia Kenin and McCartney Kessler will also be participating at the event, alongside rising Australian star Maya Joint. Below is the list of entrants.

Predictions
Samuel Gill, Head Editor for TennisUpToDate.com sees Amanda Anisimova rising again for another win.
When this is written, Amanda Anisimova will be in the final of the US Open. Her next tournament currently is the Korea Open so whether she plays likely decidingly will matter in regards to how she does in the final.
Iga Swiatek is also pencilled in for this early stop and I expect these two to be the standouts in Korea. Emma Raducanu has just signed up also for this tournament so I expect her to continue her good run of form.
It is a good field especially given that most of the players who ordinarily would enter are playing Billie Jean King Cup. But for instance, Raducanu has withdrawn and would rather take ranking points so it is either a good gamble or doesn't pay off.
Favourites:
*** Amanda Anisimova
** Iga Swiatek, Emma Raducanu
Cristhian Avila, Editor of TennisUpToDate.com sees also Swiatek and Anisimova as the two leading lights in Korea.
Iga Swiatek and Amanda Anisimova are the two strongest title contenders in Seoul, both appearing a step ahead of the rest of the field. Given the draw, it would be a surprise if anyone could prevent a potential reunion between them, just like in the Wimbledon final and US Open quarterfinals.
There are other interesting names to watch: Ekaterina Alexandrova is a firm contender to return to the top 10, as is Clara Tauson. Both have performed well in smaller tournaments, and every point they earn at the end of the season will be crucial. It remains to be seen if Emma Raducanu can maintain her recent consistency and be a threat to the top players, along with the young talents Maya Joint and Lois Boisson, who have already pulled off some surprises this season.
